Stress: How Do You Manage It?

Stress is something we all experience on a daily basis, and is our body’s way of responding to any kind of demand. When people feel stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood.

We all respond to stress differently and what may cause one person to be stressed, another may not be impacted at all.

Issues with our well-being can occur when we experience high levels of stress over a long period of time. We may start to notice physical and emotional reactions to this long-term stress, such as tense muscles, headaches, shortness of breath or panic attacks, poor quality sleep, IBS symptoms, anxiety and low mood. These reactions can then lead us to feeling more stressed and the cycle can escalate.  I regularly see clients experiencing many of these reactions which can be caused by long-term health issues, a bereavement, divorce, work pressures or other life events.

It is important to reduce our stress levels to improve our well-being and quality of life; many of my clients use reflexology as an effective stress management tool to help them relax and unwind. The treatment leaves them feeling peaceful and able to face the challenges of the day.

As well as using reflexology to de-stress, my clients love these other ways to relax too:

  • Taking part in an exercise class to increase those endorphin’s (happy hormones).
  • Relaxing in a long warm bath with their favourite products.
  • Laughing with friends.
  • Walking and enjoying being outdoors.
  • Burning lavender oil at home to create a soothing environment.
  • Listening to their favourite music.

Our lives are fast-paced and busy, with many pressures on us all, as we juggle work and family life. Taking time out, to relax and unwind is crucial to take care of our well-being.

What do you do to relax? How do you manage your stress levels?

I would love to hear from you all.

Whilst reflexology works very well alongside conventional medicine, it should never be used in place of seeking professional medical advice. If you are concerned about your health, please always consult your GP first.

I love to plan lunch out with a close friend to relax and unwind, I always feel so much happier afterwards.

I’m practising deliberately and consciously replacing negative thoughts and feelings with positive ones…not always easy but definitely helping.
