Feet resting on a wooden floor

Reflexology provides the space and time for you to relax, unwind and release the stresses of modern life.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology can be traced back to 2330 BC in ancient Egypt and also in India and China. Reflexology as we know it today is attributed to the work of Eunice Ingham, an American therapist who mapped reflex points on the feet and hands corresponding to all organs, glands and parts of the body.

For example, the toes represent the head, and the ball of the foot represents the chest and lung area. Reflexology is a complementary therapy and is recognised by the NHS, many GPs and hospices.

It is a unique method, which applies pressure to the reflex points on the hands, face and/or feet using the thumbs and fingers. It is a natural therapy that people of all ages use – from babies to the elderly.

You do not need to have a condition to enjoy reflexology as it provides a wonderful way to de-stress, relax and unwind.

Whilst reflexology works very well alongside conventional medicine, it should never be used in place of seeking professional medical advice. If you are concerned about your health, please always consult your GP first.

What happens during a Reflexology treatment?

Reflexology treatments are available in a private, comfortable and relaxing treatment room at The Health Workshop, Rushton’s Yard, Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Please note the treatment room is upstairs.

Prior to your first appointment you will be asked to complete an online well-being consultation form, this allows me to check for any contra-indications and tailor the treatment for what you need.

When you arrive to the treatment room for your first appointment we will discuss your aims for the session and I can answer any questions you may have. You will also be asked to complete a data protection form (more details below).

Your relaxation time can then begin!

You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks, and be made comfortable on the relaxing couch, with an option of a cosy blanket.  I will apply a beautiful organic foot balm to your feet, and you will start to feel the stresses of the day slip away!

At this point, I will then carry out a short breathing exercise with you, which really encourages the mind and body to unwind. Pressure will then be applied to the reflex points on the feet, as you relax.

Many clients do like to be peaceful during the treatment and some like to talk. I will always take your lead on this, it is your session and I want you to get the best possible outcome during it. It is also not uncommon for clients to fall asleep; this is completely normal.

After I have worked the various reflex points, I will then massage the feet with the beautiful balm and wrap the feet to end – bliss!

You will then have time to ask any questions about your session.

If you have booked a maternity or facial reflexology appointment, you can read more about these treatments on their respective pages.

Reflexology is a truly relaxing treatment, and many of my clients leave the treatment room feeling lighter and brighter, ready to face the day. The treatment is often used by clients as a way to relieve stress and as part of their well-being plan.

Before you book you can read some of my client’s reviews here and details about my training and professional membership.
